Diversity and Inclusion Club
Would like to introduce a few remarkable humans to you for Native American History month. Today, Wilma Mankiller was the first woman principal chief of the Cherokee Nation. Before becoming chief, Wilma was an activist that fought for Native American rights. She wanted Native Americans to be treated fairly in the United States. It was Important to Wilma that Native Americans knew their heritage and traditions. As a coordinator, deputy chief, and then chief of Cherokee Nation, Wilma worked to empower her people.
