Pre-Approved Absences Procedures During Modified Distance Learning
Students must complete the pre-approved absence process prior to missing school due to absences that MN does not consider “legal”. Some examples of those absences are interscholastic competitions and events, auditions/rehearsals/performances, college/university visits, student recognition and award ceremonies, driver tests, and family travel. Please follow the steps below when you know your student will be absent due to one of the above reasons:
- Parents must notify the front office of their student’s upcoming absence by calling (952) 224-1340 or by emailing email@example.com. Absences will be marked as unexcused pending steps 2 and 3;
- The student must email each of their teachers to inform them of the upcoming absence(s) and to discuss a plan for making up any missed work/tests;
- The student must cc Ms. Montgomery on their emails to their teachers (firstname.lastname@example.org);
- When Ms. Montgomery receives the student’s emails and sees that a parent has reported the absence(s) to the main office, the student’s absences will be changed from unexcused to excused.
