Students will have access to all equipment and materials in the screen printing studio, including: printing press, exposure table, emulsion and dark room, washout booth, screens, inks, paper and t-shirts. Participants will partake in a group print exchange at the end of the week and enter their work into the Main gallery’s summer gallery show. Experimental PrintmakingJune 19-23, Mon-Fri, 9am-12pmClass size: 16 This course is for participants looking to expand their printmaking skills. Some methods included will be etching, ink monoprinting, kitchen lithography, cyanotype, mixed media, along with traditional block printing. Each day participants will try a new printing technique. Participants will partake in a group print exchange at the end of the week and enter their work into the main gallery’s summer gallery show. This course is open to anyone ages 14 and up. Large Scale Experimental PaintingJuly 24-28, Mon-Fri, 9am-12pmClass size: Min: 8, Max: 10 Large Scale Experimental Painting is a 5 day class where students will learn how to build their own canvas frames and stretch canvas, experiment with materials, and create a large scale acrylic painting that can go towards their portfolio, an entry for scholastic, upcoming galleries, or even just make a painting for fun! Cost goes towards the foundational materials: 12 feet of wood and a 5’ x 3’ roll of raw canvas per student, as well as nails, hammers, acrylic paint, and paint brushes that will be shared amongst students. Students will need to have a general idea of what they want the piece to look like and what materials they may want to buy outside of the materials the class will already provide. Students will also need to plan what dimensions they would like their canvas to be. Available dimensions include: 2.5’ x 3.5’ (30 inches by 42 inches) 2’ x 4’ (24 inches by 48 inches) 1.5’ x 4.5’ (18 inches by 54 inches) This course is open to anyone ages 14 and up. Painting Open StudioJuly 24-28, Mon-Fri, 12-3pmClass size: Min: 18, Max: 24 This is an open studio geared towards painters who are mostly independent and want to have time dedicated towards practice and working on their painting portfolio. Participants will have access to feedback/ help from peers and Grover as needed, however there will be no new instruction during this open studio. The fee is $20 and covers the cost of shared Acrylic Paint, acrylic brushes, and watercolor brushes. Participants must purchase their own canvases, paper, tape, or other materials necessary for their projects. Purchasing information will be sent out after registration via email. Students from the Experimental Painting class are encouraged (but not required) to register for the open studio to continue to work on their pieces in-studio ($20 registration fee will still apply). This Open Studio is open to anyone 14 and up.
